What a truck dispatch service does

O Trucking is a flat-rate truck dispatch service for owner-operators and small carriers in the United States. Instead of charging a percentage of each load like most dispatchers, O Trucking charges a flat weekly rate — $250 per week for semi trucks (dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, power only) and $350 per week for box trucks and hotshot — for unlimited loads. The service finds and books high-paying loads, negotiates rates with brokers, vets every broker before booking, and handles the paperwork, with 24/7 support across all 50 states. There are no contracts, no per-load commission, and no setup fees, and new carriers can start with a 3-day free trial.

  • Pricing: $250/wk semi · $350/wk box & hotshot (flat)
  • Coverage: all 50 states, all major equipment types
  • Model: flat weekly fee, never a % of your revenue
  • Terms: no contracts · 3-day free trial · 24/7

Semis (dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, power only) are $250/week flat; box truck and hotshot are $350/week — unlimited loads, no per-load commission, no contracts.

Flat fee vs percentage: what you actually pay per week

A $250/week flat fee beats an 8% dispatcher once your truck grosses more than $3,125 a week, and a 5% dispatcher above $5,000 a week. The table shows the weekly dispatch cost for a semi at common gross revenue levels.

Weekly gross5% dispatcher8% dispatcher10% dispatcherO Trucking flat
$3,000$150$240$300$250
$4,000$200$320$400$250
$5,000$250$400$500$250
$6,000$300$480$600$250
$8,000$400$640$800$250

Box truck and hotshot are $350/week flat, so the break-even against an 8% dispatcher is $4,375/week gross. On a slow week below the break-even a percentage dispatcher costs less — there is no contract, so you can pause or cancel.

What is included

We've dispatched owner-operators since 2021. As a third-party dispatch service we work under your own MC authority — we never broker your freight or take title to a load. Here is exactly what happens from the day you call to the day you get paid.

  1. 1

Onboarding & document verification (24–48 hrs)

You send your MC authority letter, a certificate of insurance with at least $1M liability, a W-9, and a signed dispatch agreement. We set you up in the load boards and broker portals and confirm your operating authority is active on FMCSA before booking a single load.

  2. 2

Daily load sourcing on your lanes

A dispatcher who specializes in your equipment type searches the boards for loads that fit your truck, your home-time, and the lanes you want to run. We look at rate-per-mile against current market data (DAT/Truckstop trends) so we're chasing profitable freight, not just any freight.

  3. 3

    Rate negotiation & broker vetting

Before we book, we check the broker — credit score, days-to-pay, and authority status — so you don't haul for someone who won't pay. Then we negotiate the rate and get the rate confirmation in your name.

  4. 4

    Paperwork & load management

We handle the rate cons, set up the BOL, send you pickup and delivery details, and stay reachable 24/7 if something changes on the road — a detention issue, a reschedule, or a lumper problem. You drive; we manage the back office.

  5. 5

    Invoicing & getting you paid

After delivery we help get the invoice and paperwork to the broker or your factoring company so you get paid quickly. Your dispatch cost stays a flat weekly fee the whole time — never a cut of the load.

Who qualifies

Owner-operators and small fleets — typically 1 to 10 trucks — with active operating authority (MC number) and at least $1M auto liability insurance. New authorities are welcome; we confirm your authority is active with FMCSA before booking the first load.

Semi truck dispatch

Semi truck dispatch covers 53' dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck and power-only tractors at the $250/week flat rate. Desks are equipment-specialized: a flatbed dispatcher knows tarping and securement requirements, and a reefer desk understands pulp temperatures and continuous-run loads.

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment types do you dispatch?
We dispatch all major equipment types: Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, Step Deck, Power Only, Box Truck, Hotshot, Car Hauler, Sprinter/Cargo Van, Straight Truck, Drayage, Heavy Haul, and Amazon Relay. Each equipment type has specialized dispatchers who understand the freight, lanes, and rate structures specific to that trailer type.
What states do you cover for truck dispatch?
We provide dispatch services in all 50 US states. Our dispatchers have lane knowledge across every major freight corridor including I-95 (East Coast), I-10 (Southern), I-80 (Northern), and I-5 (West Coast). We handle both OTR and regional dispatch.
How much does truck dispatch cost?
Flat weekly rate — no surprises. Semi trucks (dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, power only): $250 per truck per week. Box truck and hotshot: $350 per truck per week. Unlimited loads at that price. No hidden fees, no per-load commission, no weekly minimums, no contracts. Industry average is 5–10% of every load — at $5,000/wk gross that's $250–$500/wk; we cap your dispatch cost at $250 regardless of how much you gross.
Is flat-rate dispatch better than percentage (commission) dispatch?
For most owner-operators, yes. A percentage dispatcher charges 5–10% of every load, so your cost rises every time you book a better-paying load — you're effectively penalized for grossing more. O Trucking charges a flat $250/week for semis ($350 for box truck and hotshot) no matter how much you haul, so 100% of every rate increase stays with you. Example: an owner-operator grossing $6,000/week pays $480 at an 8% rate vs. $250 flat — keeping $230 more per week, about $11,960 a year. The more you run, the bigger the flat-rate advantage.
How do I get started with dispatch services?
Getting started takes 24-48 hours. You'll need your MC authority letter, insurance certificate (COI) with $1M minimum liability, W9 form, and signed dispatch agreement. Call us at 682-978-8641 or use our contact form. We'll verify your documents and start finding loads immediately.
What is the difference between a truck dispatcher and a freight broker?
A truck dispatcher works for the carrier, under the carrier's own MC authority: it finds loads, negotiates the rate and handles paperwork, and the rate confirmation is issued in the carrier's name. A freight broker works between the shipper and the carrier, takes its own margin on the load and needs broker authority. O Trucking is a dispatch service — we never broker freight, never take title to a load and never mark up a rate for our own account.
Can I turn down loads?
Yes. There is no forced dispatch: every load is offered to you first, with the rate, miles, pickup and delivery details, and you accept or pass. We only book the rate confirmation after you approve it.
Who qualifies for O Trucking dispatch?
Owner-operators and small fleets (typically 1–10 trucks) with active operating authority (MC number) and at least $1M auto liability insurance. New authorities are welcome — we check that your authority is active with FMCSA before booking the first load.
When is a flat weekly dispatch fee cheaper than a percentage?
A flat $250/week costs less than an 8% dispatcher whenever you gross more than $3,125 in a week ($250 ÷ 0.08), and less than a 5% dispatcher above $5,000 a week. For box trucks and hotshot at $350/week, the break-even is $4,375/week against 8%. On a slow week below those numbers a percentage dispatcher costs less — which is why there is no contract and you can pause or cancel.
