Driver Jobs FAQ
Common questions about truck driver jobs with O Trucking.
How quickly can I start driving?
Most drivers go from application to their first load in 24-48 hours. Apply online, we review your info, and start matching you with freight right away. No weeks of orientation or mandatory training.
What CDL do I need?
CDL-A lets you drive tractor-trailers — dry van, reefer, flatbed, the full range. CDL-B covers straight trucks and box trucks under 26,001 lbs. No CDL? Box truck and hotshot positions under 26,001 lbs GVWR don't require one.
How much do truck drivers earn?
Earnings depend on equipment, miles, and routes. CDL-A OTR drivers average $65,000-$85,000+/year. Regional drivers $55,000-$75,000. Local drivers with multiple daily stops earn $45,000-$65,000. Box truck operators on Amazon Relay average $142,000/year.
Do I need my own truck?
Having your own truck is preferred but not always required. We work with owner-operators, drivers with leased equipment, and can discuss options during the application process.
Can I choose my routes and schedule?
Yes. Tell us your preferred lanes (local, regional, OTR), how many miles you want to run, and when you need home time. We match loads to your preferences — not the other way around.
What equipment types do you need drivers for?
All of them — dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, power only, box truck, and hotshot. Each has different requirements and pay scales. Apply and we'll match you based on your experience and equipment.
